Saturday Morning Cartoons
It’s almost the weekend which means, it’s almost time for Saturday Morning Cartoons.
I remember waking up on Saturday morning and sleepily making my way downstairs to the kitchen. My siblings and I would choose our special cereals (it was a highlight of the weekend as sugary cereals were forbidden during the week).
My choice: Fruity Pebbles.
We’d gather our bowls of puffed candy carbs and shuffle down the hall to the living room, where we’d plop our pajama’d bottoms onto the hardwood floor in front of a television set that looked like a piece of furniture.
This tv was interactive, which means, we had to physically get up and turn the knobs to power it on and change the channel.
We each had our favorites, which meant sometimes there’d be overlapped.
Bickering may have ensued.
But if we fought too much, our tv privileges were taken away. And in our house, when the tv went off, outside you went.
So we did our best to compromise.
Our favs were a mixed bag.

It looks like a long list, but listen, we didn’t get to watch a lot of tv. Saturdays were for gluttony!
I miss silly mornings filled with sugary purple colored milk and soggy cereal, that we slurped out of our bowls like soup, raking our pj-sleeved arms across our chins to soak up the drips.
We were entertained by colorful characters who ignited our imaginations and encouraged us to share, laugh, and believe in the unbelievable.
This gorgeous set by @blackwing is an homage to Broadcast Television.
The colors are inspired by the NTSC test pattern.
The colors also remind me of my fav fruity cereal.
Ah, to be a kid again, the only Saturday morning goal was to wake early enough to watch our favorites on tv, filling our bodies to the brim with sticky sweet delights, and then flinging ourselves outside, hoping to discover the portal to the land of Make Believe.
