I documented the No Kings protest today at the Sacramento Capitol.

The energy was high and the signs were on point!
There are some extremely creative minds here in Sac.

I also experienced people being kind to one another, helping each other out. I saw people in the crowd carting Free Water (no ice) for anyone in need, some even offered snacks.

I saw people bump into one another, make eye contact, smile, and say, “no worries.”
I saw people making music, blowing bubbles, and laughing, all while knowing how very serious things really are.

I saw cars driving by, honking in solidarity with the many lining either side of the streets.
I saw people of many different ethnicities and beliefs, walking side by side, their voices carrying words of resistance and empathy.
I saw people radically choosing to embrace joy over fear.

I saw people choosing community over individualism.
I saw strangers embracing one another as neighbors.
Today, I found myself surrounded by people who want better.

I found myself surrounded by people who know that when one of us falls down, we all fall.
Yet when one of us extends a hand, we all rise.

The people are channeling their rage into a clear message for the world:
“We will not stand for this.”

I saw the helpers and the helpers are many.
I saw the love and the love is plentiful.
I saw the resistance and the resistance is strong.
I saw the power, the power of We The People, and let me tell you, we aren’t going anywhere.
We’re just getting started.
