Professional Brand Photography: Hera Fine Jewelry

I had the pleasure of working with Lauren, the founder of Hera Fine Jewelry and am so excited to finally share these visuals with you all!
Lauren went through the ring-buying process when she got engaged and found the experience to be less than exciting. What should have been a fun + exciting event turned disappointing due to the gate keeping and less than transparent ways of the engagement ring buying world.

She decided she wanted to shake things up and offer the world a better buying experience. One that focused on transparency, inclusivity, and care.

Lauren contacted me to help her plan a branding photoshoot for her ring collection. She needed someone to lean on in the planning process since, at the time, she was located in Brooklyn NY and the photoshoot was going to happen here in Sacramento California.

Here’s what we did for Lauren to create as stress-free of a photoshoot as possible + help make her visuals come to life:

•Booked locations for the full day photo shoot, while working remotely with Lauren for all approvals
•Booked all the models for the session, working remotely with Lauren throughout the process
•Created a day of timeline that included all the different locations, set-ups, models, and product shots to ensure we made great use of the full day photoshoot
•Created a shot list for the model photos, lifestyle images, and product + hero shots – ensuring we created all of the visuals needed for her collection
•We created a portfolio of product shots that included collections of rings together, collection of rings on model’s hands, and a ton of creative hero shots
•We also staged a surprise proposal in the Lavender Heights, Sacramento’s LGBTQ+ area which is located on K Street and 20th Street (it was also during a wicked 100+ degree heat wave in CA – so we had to work fast so that no one was outside for too long.)
•We worked with Lauren and our retouchers to make sure the files created worked for her newly refreshed brand and newly created website

So much goes into a product and branding photoshoot: planning not only for the day of, but also hiring models, booking locations, being ready for locations to possibly fall through the day of! Which happened here. Eeep!
However when you work with a professional studio, you won’t have to worry much when hiccups occur.
Actually, you won’t have to worry at all, because a professional studio will have a plan b (and plan c!) in case of instances that are out of our control or unplanned situations.

We were able to find a new location to work in the day of, which allowed the photoshoot to go forward without a hitch!

Also make sure you work with a studio that realizes that not only do the models/talent need to eat and hydrate throughout the photoshoot, but so do all the vendors and those involved in the photoshoot, including the founders and the photographers.
If you lack food and water throughout a photoshoot, it will show in the quality of the work, in the model’s energy levels, and who wants to work when they’re hangry anyway? No one.

And do we know of some great tacos places. Because – tacos!
