Posing for Success: Project Confidence in Your Headshot

A well-posed headshot isn’t only about capturing your likeness; it’s about portraying the message you want to convey.
Whether it’s approachability, leadership, or creativity, the right pose can make all the difference.

Here are some tips to project confidence and competence in your headshot:

  • Posture Power:  Maintain good posture with your shoulders back and relaxed.
Keeping a straight spine creates a lengthening effect and projects confidence.
  • Eye Contact is Key:  Making direct eye contact with the camera creates a sense of connection and approachability with the viewer.
  • Body Language Matters:  Avoid slouching or tilting your head too much.
A slight turn of the body towards the camera creates a more dynamic pose.
  • Do the Turtle!  The what? I know it sounds weird, but if you have any concern about face and chin shpae, you can “turtle” your face/neck forward. Don’t go to extremes, simply push your forehead slightly forward and tip your chin slightly fdown.
This will help to elongate your neck and avoid an unflattering double-chin effect.
